I spent 5 wonderful days in Playa Pelada, a quiet little town with a beautiful beach. The room was very comfortable with quality linens, hot shower, fan and air conditioner as well as a kitchenette equipped for simple meals. There is a small high end grocery store right across the street. Nosara supermarkets are a couple of km away. I didn’t have a vehicle, but the beach is about a 5 minute walk away. It is also possible to walk to Playa Guiones by some pretty forest trails… there are more shops and eateries (and more people) in that surf town, but I preferred the quieter beach and town of Playa Pelada. Refugio del Sol was charming with its garden and hammocks on the shady porch. Would definitely stay here again.

Would totally recommend staying at Refugio Del Sol if you’re looking for good value for money in Nosara. The rooms are lovely, with AC, a fan, coffee making facilities and private en-suite with a fantastic shower. There’s a shared communal kitchen for all your needs and some rooms have their own private kitchenette. It’s really convenient having a local store opposite to buy essentials and fantastic to be able to walk to the beach and nearby restaurants. We loved chilling in the hammocks and watching the hummingbirds whilst having coffee in the morning. Chelsea is a wonderful host and extremely accommodating. Thank you for a great stay!

This was one of the best places I have ever stayed at in my years of travel. A newly renovated space with private rooms that keep a homey hostel vibe. The rooms are all set back from the road making them nice and peaceful. The outdoor area with seating and hammocks is perfect to morning coffee or naps after the beach. Everything is walkable from your room with maybe 10 minutes to the beach and less than 5 to restaurants and cafes. There is a communal kitchen area with everything you could need including a designated shelf in the fridge for each room. I can’t wait to come back again next year for even longer this time. I felt right at home and couldn’t have felt safer. 10/10 would recommend!

Walk across the street to this specialty grocery store with all the essentials. Grab fresh baked bread and coffee or stick around for some breakfast. Stock up on your favorite beer, wine or cider with locally made snacks for the perfect sunset at the beach.

Eat where the locals eat, drink where the locals drink and party like a local at this neighborhood bar and restaurant. Featuring live music, game nights and the best chili guaro in Costa Rica.
